Growing up, I was always poking through tidal pools and searching for creatures along the shore. As a potter I have found ways to incorporate my love of the ocean into my work. I collect interesting textures, barnacles, and shells from the beach, and make moulds. I am always searching for new inspiration and constantly experimenting, so no two pieces will ever be the same!
I currently work in a community studio as well as my growing at-home studio. I love wheel throwing as well as handbuilding, but particularly love detail work and sculpting. I play with the delicate balance between functionality and ornamentalism - my creations are rarely simple, but always serve a purpose. In addition to Tidal Pottery I am also an art teacher, so I get to keep my hands messy all day long. Have any questions? I'd love to hear from you :) Lizzy Segal- Artist and Owner of Tidal Pottery |
